The year 2003 is one of the most interesting years for collectors of Canadian one cent coins, with a total of five major different types of coins. In this year, the Royal Canadian Mint switched from the 3rd effigy of the Queeen (Diademed Portrait) to the new 4th effigy (uncrowned portrait), and coins were produced with both effigies. In addition, new plated steel planchets were being introduced, and coins were struck both in copper plated zinc (non-magnetic) with no composition mark, and in copper plated steel (magnetic) with a "P" composition mark. A fifth variety was also produced when a small number of collector issue coins were produced in Winnipeg (whereas they are usually produced in Ottawa) using the new effigy on copper plated steel planchets. This is by far the rarest of the five varieties, and can easily be identified by the "WP" marking below the portrait of the Queen.

This item includes ten of the highest quality possible "WP" mint mark 2003 cent coins. The coins are all numismatic superb gem uncirculated, grading MS-66 to MS-67. The 10 coins come presented in individual acrylic display holders.
