This coin is one of the most sought after major Canadian varieties, and one of the great rareties of the Canadian 25 cent series. While almost all 1906 quarters have a "large crown" on the reverse (date side) of the coin at the top between the tips of the maple wreath, a very small number of coins were produced at the beginning of the year using a die with the 1905 "small crown" design. Less than 50 examples of this rarity are known to exist in any grade. Although this coin is well circulated, it is still a good example of a true rarity in the Canadian quarter series. The coin has been independently graded and certified as aG-3 by PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service), the world's largest and most respected independent coin certification company. Coins certified by PCGS come encapsulated in a tamper proof hard acrylic protective holder which provides an attractive display and archival quality protection for the coin. This is a "one only item". The photograph is of the exact item you will receive.
