Make Changes

For the collector in your life, the coins in this Irish Euro collection set from Connemara Marble are decorated with a harp symbol and the word "EIRE," the Irish word for "Ireland."

• This Irish euro coin collection features the currency of Ireland and the
the European union
• The Irish coins differ slightly, as they are decorated by a harp symbol and the word "EIRE," the Irish word for "Ireland"
• Ireland, along with many countries in Europe, uses the Euro as its national currency. The Euro symbol was inspired by the Greek letter Epsilon, dating back to classical times and the beginning of European civilization. The symbol refers to the first letter in the word "Europe." The two parallel lines indicate the stability of the Euro
• The Euro was first introduced in January 1999 and on 1 January 1, 2002, it entered everyday circulation
• The new Euro bank notes and coins were introduced in the biggest monetary change over in history. The denominations of the coins vary in size and thickness according to their values. One Euro is divided into 100 cents
• Luc Luycx of the Royal mint won a European wide competition to design the Euro coins. One side of each coin features one of three designs common to all 12 Euro countries showing different maps of Europe surrounded by the 12 stars of the European Union. The reverse side of each coin shows individual designs relating to the respective Member State, surrounded by 12 stars. Euro coins can be used anywhere in the Euro area, regardless of their national sides
• The government in Ireland decided on a single national design for the reverse of all Irish coin denominations. They show the Celtic harp, a triditional symbol of Ireland that has been represented on Irish coinage since they were first issued by the state in December 1928. The harp is decorated with the year of issue, the word "Eire" and 12 stars. The harp shown was designed by Jarlath Hayes
• Ireland and Belgium are the only countries to display one continuous design on the reverse of all their national coins
• Country of origin: Ireland
