I agree with many others about this item being awkward to use the handheld portion, and lack of cleaning. The floor option seemed to work well, but you can get your floors clean just as good or better with a spin mop for about $39 and some vinegar which disinfects too.

I had the previous generation machine, after about 8 months it stopped working, followed the manual's maintenance, wouldn't turn on or anything, and couldn't get any support from anyone (i.e company or TSC)

Don't waste your money and time, unfortunately sometimes you have to use chemicals to clean around the house. Nowadays there are many environmentally friendly ones that are safe to use, or go back to basics...water and vinegar cleans everything from ceiling to floor

Did not live up to expectations

By Summer

After watching the demo during the product presentation, I was really looking forward to getting the unit to clean not just the floor, but such things as the oven, shower walls, windows, etc. However, I was disappointed with how well it cleaned - I have to go over the same area again and again. Also, it leaves some streaks behind. I like the floor unit better than the handheld (too awkward to use), but the water tank is kind of small so it needs to be re-filled before the entire floor is completed. I would have returned it, but it is past the timeline for returns.

Could Be Better

By reenzetto

I agree with the other viewers; difficult to remove/replace the water cap; the cord is stiff; and doesn't want to stay wrapped on the handle; the cover for the steaming attachment is very difficult to put on & keeps falling off when in use ; it is also very difficult to use the hand attachment & hold the unit at the same time if both hands are needed to clean an item. I noticed some other mops had an attachment to carry it over the shoulder which would have been very useful. I also did find it did spray more water than on the demonstrations but this could be my not using it properly (I have watched the videos a number of times since and I believe for hardwoods, we should use the low heat setting and the forward spray (but you do have to be careful as the steam has unglued a few of the peel & stick tiles in my laundry room. Again, it might not be applicable to these types of floors). The first time I used it to freshen the house (carpets, upholstery, blinds etc), I found I had to refill the reservoir multiple times just as I was getting a particular job started. It worked great on my kitchen aluminum blinds that hadn't been cleaned for some time. Albeit it took some time and effort to remove the grease but they did get clean without having to take them down. I do like the principle of steam cleaning and freshening my home without chemicals and will most likely use it more for that.

Hmm, what can I say? Streaky, hazy floors, the water container needs to refilled constantly and it is a pain to do so, I have to order filters from the manufacturer, when I tried to clean my oven I found the tool attachment was not on the correct angle; they could have made it swivel. The steam set off my fire alarm and if my sprinkler had gone off the whole building would have had to be evacuated. The metal tool that was suggested to use on barbeques should NOT be on the market as there have been many people, adults and toddlers who have ingested a piece of the wire after it was left behind on the grill.

I'd send it back but can't get to the post office easily; however, if I manage to find a ride there soon I will return it posthaste! I prefer my large bulky Monster steam cleaner. Sad, because I thought this one was going to replace my heavy Monster.

thought it would be better

By Gail

from Calgary

All Star Reviewer

There are a number of problems with this unit:

The cap for the water dispenser is ridiculous to deal with....way too difficult. What was the point of that?

The cord is kind of a pain to maneuver around with because it's so thick and heavy and not very malleable. I agree with the other reviewer who suggested a clip to attach it to the handle.

The floor certainly doesn't dry quickly. It takes a good 10-15 minutes, and then that's when you notice all the streaks, so you have to haul it out and do the floor again. Not much improvement. I have tried using it on all of the 3 steam settings...doesn't make much difference.

As for the additional little white mop head that supposed to fit over the mattress steamer piece....really? Could you please make a video on how to attach that thing, because there's no way it goes on there. I've had about 5 different people try and figure it out and everyone says the same thing...they must have sent me a defective head. ????

And now I find out from the other reviewers that filters aren't available. What's the point of that? Do you think that after the disappointment of this mop that we'd buy another one because we can't get a filter? Especially at this price?

This mop has been a huge disappointment and if I hadn't taken so long to use it for the first time then I would have returned it. But I didn't use it until after the 30 days. Now I'm stuck with it. Never again TSC. Shame on you!

The only solace I have is that even though my floors look streaky, at least they're clean from the steam. (I hope!)

Great Mop

By SaraD

from Calgary

I have been using this mop only for a few days, but it works good.

FYI, for replacement filters (which you need to change every 20 or so uses) call Thane directly. They do have the replace filters, but they are not listed on their website. I called within the 30 days that I bought, so all I had to pay was shipping. They were great on the phone.

Wasn't completely happy about product

By ?

from Ontario

I find that the water container is difficult to remove, the water cap is very awkward to remove and put back into place. Wondering how long it will last. Feels cheaply made.
The mop leaves the floor very wet even when using the absorbent thicker blue pad.
The plug could use a clip to secure it to the cord.
I would have really liked to get the fabric attachment instead of a window squeegee.
As far as cleaning goes, it does a pretty good job. Different steam settings are a bonus.
Don't think I would not recommend this product to a friend.

Problem with water container cap/plug

By Silvertip

from Shuswap, B.C.

Helpful Reviewer

This machine works great for cleaning only for one problem. For some reason the cap/plug is difficult to day it took both us over a half hour to try to unscrew the cap to fill it up. The same when you try to close it up to use. Not sure why this would be. Have considered sending it back, but the hassle with TSC return policy is worse than the problem. Also phoned the number in the booklet, they referred me back to TSC.
