A Real Sweetheart

I ordered this little guy in the gray with the pink trim. First of all, I am not a child and am not a beginner sewer. I taught Home Economics for 34 years at the High School level and I also taught Sewing courses to adults at night school classes. I have, at the present, a Bernina, a Husqvarna #1Plus with the Embroidery module and a Pfaff Quilt Expressions, all full size computerized machines which cost considerably more then this little one. I bought this Janome because I belong to a quilt guild and would like to be able to attend workshops but at present I am having issues with my hip and back and cannot lift or carry the bigger machine. I am hoping that in the future, I can purchase a Janome that weighs in at the 12 pounds but so far has not been in my budget. This little machine, weighing in at 5 lbs., while it does not sew on the level of the bigger machines I have, sews well and will allow me to take it to workshops. I keep it in my living room and find it also comes in handy to make quick repairs. I have grown really attached to this cute little guy and do look forward to the time when I can manage a 12 pounder. Don't be afraid to go with this one for repairs, travel etc. I have sewn silky infinity scarves on it, knits and made a quilted table runner and it has done it all easily and with a good stitch. A good investment, I think, even if you are experienced and not just a novice.

Big expensive Lemon in purple and pink

By Sewing since I was a kid!

from Burnaby, BC

Helpful Reviewer

I have never, in all the years of shopping with TSC, been so disappointed in a product, that I purchased through the shopping channel.
I bought this machine earlier this year, to take over to my nieces house to teach them how to sew. Everything seemed to work fine when I tested it at home. I took it to their house a few months later,we stitched a test piece together and that is when disappointment set in. The machine jammed up and would not stitch no matter what I tried.
I have been sewing since I was a kid,I have alot of experience with all types of machines. And alot of experience fixing them. The idea is great "hey make a machine that kids can sew, for real on". But this piece of junk does not live up to the hype! It has no light, so we had to put a lamp next to it to see what we were doing. It is impossible to thread. And it does not sew.Jam Jam! Lose Lose!
Janome, this thing has to be brought back to testing faze for sure!
The little hang crank sewing machine I still have from when I was a kid works better than this!
I am still sad and so were my nieces. Side note, I could have bought a old used machine in the thrift store in their town for 30 dollars.

First use malfunction-So Disappointed!

By Starr

Bought this for my niece. Initially was delighted with the features when it arrived and I checked the machine. For her first project, my niece tried to make a small pillow and was working on the last seam when something started to malfunction. The bobbin casing was moving side to side causing the needle position to shift, jam, and break the thread.
Don't know if this is an isolated incident or if it is indicative of Janome quality.
There is a warranty, but what a nuisance to pay the postage to send it back to Janome and pay $9.75 US to get it back.
Am truly disappointed with this purchase.
