Great buy for the price!

By Al

from Ottawa

Bought the Crosswalk 590 LT Treadmill as a holiday special and love it. It took me about an hour to assemble and I started usining it right away.
I have been using it everyday for jogging and walking and it runs smooth. I am 200lbs+ and it handles the weight easily.

Could use it more often

It is my first treadmill. Like it a lot. My husband and I use it and it does the job.

good treadmill, not as study as we thought, and the instructions for assembly were a little vague.

I like it.

I received the treadmill in January, at the showstopper price. Pretty good value and I would not pay full price for it. I do like it, it does the job. I have not had any mechanical problems with it at all. Not that crazy about the moving arms, don't think they are that helpful, swinging your arms works fine. It does take a bit of time to put together and as it weighs 275 lbs. you don't want to be moving it around too much. I use a surge protector as my last treadmill was hit by lightning, it was also a Proform and I used it for 10 years. I was very satisfied with it and I like this one too.

Worth the showstopper price

In response to one of the other reviews.... yes it is a fairly hard unit to assemble, but once assembled properly, machine works great!! I am 6'1 250lbs and I have had no problems with it, I currently use it at speeds between 3 and 5 mph and at a 2.5% incline for 20 min at a time, 3 days a week.... so I'd say its durable so far. The surge protecter is not necessary, just recommended.... simple solution, unplug it during t-storms or really anytime you aren't using it.

My only complaint is that it only uses the imperial system and need to convert the miles to km on my own but thats very minor.

Overall I think its worth the showstopper price with free shipping but not at the regular price.

A Disasterous Experience

My daughter and I received our treadmill this morning with utter excitement. We had been waiting for the opportunity to work out in the comfort of our home for a long time. One thing we had remembered from watching its demo on the shopping channel was how easy it was to assemble. So, I was ready to bring it down to the basement and start using it as quickly as possible. After hauling the 150-pound box containing the piece of equipment into my basement with the children, I immediately opened the instructions manual. I then found myself drowning in the nuts and bolts of assembling the legs to the core of the treadmill, the wheels, greasing up metal cones found inside the resistance mechanisms (which you have to assemble yourself by the way) and fishing the treadmill's console wire through a metal pole using only a long black twist tie, provided with the packaging. After doing all this, the treadmill seemed to be unsteady; the top would tilt from side to side with a little push. I then realized I couldn't just keep a piece of mind and simply plug the treadmill in the wall without using some kind of surge suppressor with the grounding plug to prevent possible damage to its control system. Some of the screws were also difficult to put in and got jammed. However we could all just say that all these "problems" were simply my fault. But then again, shouldn't a showstopper Pro-Form treadmill be easier to assemble than this? I wish everyone (young and old) who has purchased this treadmill good luck and to let me know whether they are in need of an extra wrench.

I was so excited when I received my shipment, then I had to hire someone to assemble it, I could not do it myself because of the weight of the treadmill. I am so disappointed with this product and The Shopping Channel....very poor quality, I only have been using it for walking at a low speed, not sturdy, very loud. I had a friend who is a runner try it out, I was advised to return I have to hire someone to take it apart so I can send it back.

I am very disappointed in the buyers for selling such a poor quality item.

poor quality

By Tania

from Ste-Adele, Quebec.

Bought mine as a showstopper on the holiday.
Received the first week of january, a day after a minus 25 degrees.
Don't know if it was du to the cold, but as i unpacked the undamaged box (by the way), i immediately noticed a big hole about 2 inches by 3 inches, in the left footing platform (plastic was completely cracked).
Decided to open it up anyways, then noticed a second crack at the end of the mat (where two big plastic parts touches the floor).
Still decided to assemble it anyways.
When i plugged it in the electronics didn't work.
Read the instructions, they suggested to wait half an hour to an hour, if it was a cold day during delivery. (which i actually waited a whole afternoon)
Nothing happened!
De-assembled it and called customer service (at shopping channel, good feedback from them as always), and sent it back right away.
Don't think proform is a bad company, but plastic is thin and cheap, and my first experience with them was a total flop!
Espacially for an item in the 1000-2000$ price range when not a showstopper.
Very disappointed about the product.
