Product Overview
This set has been carefully selected as one of the finest surviving original examples of Canada's 1967 Centennial Proof Set including the $20 gold coin. As Canada celebrated its 100th anniversary of Confederation in 1967, the Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) issued the first proof (or specimen) quality coin set every widely available to Canadians. This set not only features near flawless examples of the centennial commemorative designs from the cent to silver dollar as created by renowned artist and sculptor Alex Colville, but it also features Canada’s first (and still only) $20 gold coin.

The substantial gold coin is struck in 22 karat gold with a weight of 18.27 grams (nearly six tenths of an ounce), and features Canada's coat-of-arms as it appeared in 1967. All the coins in this collection are the absolute highest quality coins produced by the RCM in this year. They are all double struck with extra pressure using specially prepared highly polished dies, and then carefully placed in the black leather collector case to ensure the coins remain pristine. The result is a deep mirror finish on all the coins with substantially more depth and detail than coins issued for circulation.  he case housing the collection is also an easel stand to display the coins.

While many of the original coins and cases from this era have been damaged over time, this set has been carefully selected as representing both the very best coins and presentation case possible.
