The SAK Handbags

The Sak - Sustainably Conscious Handbags Inspired by Balinese Culture

A lifestyle brand built on authentic design and worldly spirit, The Sak handbags originated from a simple, casual, and relaxed bag with universal appeal. The company's captivating collection of sustainably conscious handbags, made of handcrafted crocheted and premium leather, and inspired by Balinese heritage, is available for you here at TSC! The Sak was founded in 1989 when childhood friends Mark Talucci and Todd Elliott decided on a whim to part from the corporate world and follow their passions of discovering new treasures through world travel. During a life-altering trip to Bali, Indonesia, a simple rattan and leather bag designed out of an everyday Balinese sleeping mat sparked their vision to specialize in making quality, handcrafted bags for women. In 1994, following the rattan bag's incredible retail success, The Sak created the original 120 Hobo bag crafted from a unique Tightweave™ fabrication using hand-crocheted nylon string. This very creation sparked the ""crochet craze,"" becoming one of the most iconic handbags of the '90s. Today, The Sak offers various fresh takes on the iconic 120 Hobo handbag, featuring 18 unique iterations entirely hand-crocheted by women in the Balinese village of Negara. Each style is crafted by a single female artisan who signs and numbers her work. This design process is a true testament to The Sak's promise of creating authentically one-of-a-kind, sustainably ethical bags, and accessories inspired by Balinese culture. From ""Cali-cool"" to free-spirited designs, each of The Sak's bags and accessories features timeless artisan accents, handmade with premium, soft leathers, and colourfully handcrafted crochet. At TSC, we're proud to bring you an intimate collection of PETA-approved and vegan certified handbags and accessories by The Sak. Complement any look when you shop our stylish selection of The Sak's small and medium convertible crossbody bags, leather wallets and wristlets, drawstring backpacks, large totes, and more.
