As Canada approaches its 150th anniversary in 2017, embark on a cross-country collecting experience with a stunning series that showcases Canada's iconic flora, fauna, landscapes and landmarks! The first Loon design coin will ship now, with one additional coin per month to follow for 12 more months. The collection will be complete just in time for Canada Day 2017. This collaborative series between the Royal Canadian Mint and Canadian Geographic magazine features striking designs based on unforgettable photographs from the bi-monthly publication. Each coin collection includes a FREE one-year subscription to Canadian Geographic, plus a premium wooden display case.
Each coin is double dated 1867-2017 with a $10 denomination and weighs just over one half ounce of pure silver. Each coin represents one of Canada's 10 provinces and 3 territories. The first coin in the series features the common loon and represents the province of Ontario.
The mintage of each coin is limited to 25,000. With this subscription, you are guaranteed to receive each coin at the original issue price. Each coin in the series is $44.95, and will be charged as each is released and shipped.
• Mintage: just 25,000 each coin
• As pure silver coins issued by the Royal Canadian Mint, all 13 coins are HST/GST exempt
The first coin in the subscription series is based on an image by Canadian nature photographer Jim Cumming and features the common loon. The loon glides over the glassy surface of water, tilts upwards in the water stretching its wings. The use of colour recreates the qualities of the original photographer, capturing the loon in fine detail. Its jet black head, unique black and white collar, and checkered plumage are captured in vibrant colour.
