Superman™ is one of the iconic images of the 20th century and beyond, and often seen as the greatest superhero ever created. This new DC Comics "Gauntlet" coin issued by the Royal Canadian Mint is a $10 denomination featuring selective full colour, and weighs just over half of an ounce of pure silver. Mintage is limited to 30,000 coins. Previous Superman coins have all sold out from the Mint very quickly with most appreciating in value in the secondary market. As a pure silver coin issued by the Royal Canadian Mint, this item is GST/HST exempt.
The DC Comics Originals series has a classic, slightly retro style, recalling the look most comic book fans grew up with and remember fondly. About the Design:
The reverse image mimics a comic book splash page with a coloured and engraved rendition of Superman, flanked by those who would seek to destroy him. In mid-flight, the Man of Steel is on the defensive as he faces off against his foes: Superman's greatest nemesis, Lex Luthor, is prominent at the far right in his battle suit; Phantom Zone criminals General Zod, Faora and Quex-Ul are above Lex Luthor in an attack position; and a robotic Brainiac flies alongside the diminutive Mister Mxyzptlk to complete the hoard. This is also a first-time appearance of villains Mister Mxyzptlk, Brainiac, Quex-Ul, Faora, General Zod and Lex Luthor on a Royal Canadian Mint coin!

Since his first appearance in 1938, millions of readers and movie-goers have been captivated by the adventures of Clark Kent and his secret identity as Superman. Safe from the destruction of his home planet Krypton, the infant space traveler was discovered near Smallville, Kansas, by Jonathan and Martha Kent, who raised him as their son. They instilled in him the strong values and beliefs that compel him to use his superhuman abilities for the greater good. As an adult living in the big city of Metropolis, Clark keeps his powers a secret thanks to his persona as a mild-mannered reporter; but as Superman, he becomes a powerful symbol of valour, strength and justice while battling some of the greatest villains of all time.
