I Just Bought 2 Books!

I purchased my Wolfgang Puck 8 Quart Pressure Cooker in White about 2 years ago and it came with a little ringlet of recipes and a few in the manual as well...I attempted to get the book but it always sells out!

Now, my sister-in-law is getting married and because I love my Pressure Cooker so much we decided to buy her one (thank goodness TSC still has them) and so I bought her the Black one...

Since I am quite used to using my pressure cooker, it's easy for me to just whip something up but because my SIL is new to the pressure cooking world I thought it would be easier to include the companion book along with has very good descriptions inside. With some recipes you start from cold while others require you to preheat the pressure cooker. I found the book very informative. EVERY recipe has a picture! Thank you for that Marian!

The only thing I wish TSC would do is bring in a 7 inch pan to insert into the pressure cooker for certain dishes (desserts) which are in the recipe book and so having said that I took the initiative and ordered two 7x3" pans online (one for me and one for my SIL) so not only is she getting the pressure cooker and this wonderful book but she's getting 7" pan too...

Love Wolfgang Puck! I enjoy their visits!!!

Along with the booklet that came with the pressure cooker, this has some very basic recipes - some duplicates and some extra ideas. I was expecting more recipes as well. One recipe that Marian featured on every show was the rice dish with eggplant and curry spices that she and her husband make at home, as they like to eat more plant-based foods. I do too. Well, this was the one recipe missing from the cookbook and she did not explain how to prepare it on air - only dished it out and it looked fantastic, so kind of disappointed that this was not included. Perhaps Wolf's rice dish in the book can be used as a guide to create something similar. I personally prefer to saute in a separate pan and then add it to the pressure cooker as I am sceptical about the non-stick coating and how it will stand up to use, bearing in mind where the cooker is manufactured. This could be in the directions, so that people have an alternate option to sauteeing in the cooker itself.

When I first got the cook book I went through it and made grocery list of items that appear over and over in the book that I didn't have on hand. My grocery bill was almost $150.00 and it was worth every penny. I have made many of the recipes in this book and they are all wonderful.
I have never been able to make rice pudding, but I bought Arborio rice like Wolfgang suggested, and it turned out perfectly! I have a freezer full of meals that I can take to work for lunch, which is a lot cheaper than buying lunch every day. I just can't recommend this book highly enough!

I purchased this book with certain expectations on what I had hoped to see and this book certainly met my expectation. The picture are well displayed. The book is divided into useful sections and contains some of the favourites like the Crem Caramel (noted in the book as Flan) which I've always wanted to try. I will be going shopping and purchasing a bunch of ingredients so I can try a number of the receipies from the book.

No-Pressure Cooking!

This is a wonderfully written and photographed cookbook. There are many great recipes, I love how it is broken into sections, and the variety of foods that can be used. I have at least three other books authored by Chef Marian, but I think this is my favourite, hands down! I am new to pressure cooking and found the suggestions really helpful. Especially what types of ingredients to have on hand and where to purchase specialty items.
